PURIFIED OIL BASED FOTIVAX
Purified Oil Based Inactivated Foot and Mouth Disease Vaccine
This is a tissue culture derived FMD virus vaccine, which is chemically inactivated using Bromoethyl amine. It’s composed of FMD strains A, O SAT1 and SAT2.The vaccine is purified by ultra filtration using a filter of 500KD molecular cut off weight.is blended with Montanide as an adjuvant. Other components of the final blend include antifoam, Phenol red dye, antibiotics, amino acids, vitamins. Each batch undergoes potency test in live cattle to ensure protection level of 80% and above.
For the vaccination of healthy cattle, pigs sheep and goats as an aid in prevention and control of Foot and Mouth Disease caused by serotypes A, O, SAT1 and SAT2.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Shake well before use.
Vaccination of should be done using sterile needle and syringe to avoid contamination. Administer 3mls to cattle above the age of 3 months through intramuscular route only. And 2mls to pigs, sheep and goats. For cattle that are below 2 years of age, they should be revaccinated twice a year. Cattle above 2year of age should be vaccinated once a year.
NB: The vaccine should be administered through intramuscular route only at the neck or hind limb.
For veterinary use only. Do not use if seal is broken or package is damaged. Do not vaccinate un - healthy animals. All vaccines may occasionally cause anaphylactic reactions in some animals. If this occurs adrenaline should be administered. A swelling of 5 to 10 cm diameter may occur due to the oil adjuvant; this is a normal reaction and does not interfere with immunity neither with milk and meat production.
Store at +2oC to +8oC (Refrigerator). DO NOT FREEZE. If stored at between +2o C and +8 oC (refrigerator) the shelf life is two years. Once the vaccine bottle has been opened, it must be used immediately and any remaining vaccine discarded.
